Faith-Based Discernment Counseling
Faith-Based Discernment Counseling is a one- to two-session protocol that helps prevent early dropout from marital counseling by enabling couples to clarify their commitment before therapy begins. It does not replace traditional counseling but serves as an ideal starting point. At the end of these brief sessions, both spouses sign an agreement to keep divorce off the table for at least six months and provide a summary of the personal changes they will each work on to strengthen their marriage and family. Through a focused series of conversations, this approach is designed to help couples in marital distress ensure that divorce is their best and only option.
